The Greenacres Foundation and JASON Learning

About the Partnership

Greenacres Foundation and JASON Learning have partnered to bring the immersive EcoVillage experience to students across the country. Greenacres, a nonprofit dedicated to hands-on, place-based education, has been engaging students for over 35 years through authentic learning experiences on the farm, in the arts studio, and in natural spaces.

Originally a dynamic, in-person field trip experience, our EcoVillage program is now accessible anywhere through Greenacres’ partnership with JASON Learning’s innovative STEM platform. This engaging program empowers students to build their own communities, make decisions, solve real-world challenges, and discover their individual and collective voices. Together, Greenacres and JASON Learning are inspiring the next generation of thinkers, leaders, and changemakers through meaningful, student-centered learning.

Indian Hill Exempted Village School District and JASON Learning have partnered to bring real-world, interdisciplinary learning experiences to students through JASON’s dynamic digital platform. This partnership provides Indian Hill students with access to a robust library of inquiry-based STEM and career exploration content developed in collaboration with leading scientists, engineers, and industry professionals. By embedding JASON Learning into the curriculum, Indian Hill is expanding opportunities for students to engage in project-based learning, tackle real-world problems, and develop critical thinking and leadership skills across grade levels. Through this collaboration, Indian Hill continues to empower students to explore their passions, discover career pathways, and become innovative problem-solvers ready to lead in a rapidly evolving world.

Greenacres Foundation, JASON Learning, and Indian Hill Exempted Village School District are proud to come together to bring you the EcoVillage program, where students learn and grow!

At Greenacres, classroom concepts come to life when we combine hands-on, authentic experiences with our innovative educators, curious students, and community partners like Indian Hill School District! We encourage educators nationwide to implement EcoVillage and create transformative learning opportunities for their students.

About the Greenacres Foundation

Greenacres Foundation offers something for everyone. From exploring preserved forests and creeks, capturing beauty in music and artwork, to discovering secrets of farming and gardening. Come enjoy school field trips and summer camps as well as fresh produce from the farm store and special public events. Inspiration is contagious among Greenacres team who truly possess a passion for our Mission.

Greenacres Foundation Mission:

To preserve for the public an area reflecting the traditional environment of Indian Hill and its historical significance by preserving Greenacres in its current state of woodland and farmland.

To preserve the integrity of all land owned and purchased by Greenacres Foundation in order to encourage conservation and appreciation of nature by providing the public, particularly children, opportunities to study plant and animal life in their natural settings.

To encourage appreciation of music and culture by providing facilities and an atmosphere that will encourage artists to display their talents for all age groups.

I am proud of our partnership with the Greenacres Foundation and Indian Hill Village Exempt District to create a curriculum grounded in interdisciplinary learning. The EcoVillage curriculum is designed to ignite children's love of nature and develop their leadership skills as they learn and create a community and business.

EcoVillage Content

Get ready to take your students on an unforgettable journey where they are in charge! In this fun, student-led program, students will create a town deep in the heart of the outdoors. Students work together with their business partners to decide what businesses, services, and resources their town will need to thrive, all while learning how to make smart choices and work together as a community.

In this three-part mission, students build their own EcoVillage from the ground up. They’ll explore the land, identify local resources, and meet a community member. As the town grows, students create currency, vote on laws, design maps, and market their businesses. The series ends with a grand opening celebration, reflection on their journey, and a return of EcoVillage back to nature.

Community Rooted in Imagination

Growing Your Budding Community

Nurturing Your Blossoming Community

Developing this program began when my sister and I observed our students interact by exchanging goods and services with natural objects. From there, we realized we could turn this natural behavior into a whole curriculum for students to learn, lead, and grow.
