ASHBURN, VA (May 13, 2025) — Dominion Energy is helping to spark young minds in Virginia with a $5,000 grant to JASON Learning, fueling efforts to bring cutting-edge STEM education to early childhood classrooms in Virginia Beach and Portsmouth City.
The funding will support hands-on professional development workshops that empower PreK-2 educators with the tools, confidence, and curriculum needed to introduce their youngest students to science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) in meaningful and age-appropriate ways.
This includes JASON’s newest early childhood STEM units co-developed with Playwatch Kids, which are an imaginative blend of storytelling, discovery, representation, and exploration designed just for early learners.
“We are deeply grateful to the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation for investing in our youngest learners and the educators who guide them. Strong early learning experiences are where the STEM journey begins, and every child deserves that spark.”
—Jenna Davis, Director of Development at JASON Learning
This initiative aligns with a growing national call to expand high-quality, joyful, and inclusive early education. A recent report from the National Academies (2024) emphasizes the importance of a curriculum that engages young learners’ minds while affirming their diverse identities and experiences. JASON Learning’s Early Childhood STEM program responds to that call, offering developmentally appropriate, equity-driven learning that’s both rigorous and fun.
Dominion Energy’s Charitable Foundation supports nonprofits working in areas where the company serves customers or has business operations. Its education funding helps ensure that students across the region, especially in underserved communities, have access to the learning and opportunities they need to thrive.
This grant underscores a shared commitment to educational equity and workforce readiness, beginning with early exposure to high-quality STEM opportunities for all learners.
