CTE: Advanced Manufacturing – Climate Controlled: Comfort & Quality

Artificial intelligence (AI)-powered robots, 3D printing, the Internet of Things (IoT), virtual reality (VR) … there’s a whole world of exciting jobs and careers available to those who have a basic understanding of how to use these Industry 4.0 technologies. In each module of CTE: Advanced Manufacturing – Building a Future-Ready Workforce, students will

  • Investigate new technologies,
  • Explore the ways they impact daily life, and
  • Discover the jobs and career paths that utilize these technologies in their community.

In this module, students will be introduced to the science, technology, and people who ensure the comfort and quality of the air in our climate-controlled spaces. Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems in these buildings offer us protection and comfort. Students will put on their technician hat to develop a long-term climate-control proposal that optimizes energy efficiency and occupant comfort and health on the warmest days of the year.

Appropriate Age Levels:
Grades 8-12
