CTE: Advanced Manufacturing – Innovating Through Digital Design

Artificial intelligence (AI)-powered robots, 3D printing, the Internet of Things (IoT), virtual reality (VR) … there’s a whole world of exciting jobs and careers available to those who have a basic understanding of how to use these Industry 4.0 technologies. In each module of CTE: Advanced Manufacturing – Building a Future-Ready Workforce, students will

  • Investigate new technologies,
  • Explore the ways they impact daily life, and
  • Discover the jobs and career paths that utilize these technologies in their community.

In this module, learners will be introduced to computer-aided design (CAD) and TinkerCAD®. They will learn about digital manipulation and texturizing of surface features on objects, then explore the different applications of these design tools in the built world. After completing all the activities in this module, students will be challenged to redesign an existing consumer product to maintain or enhance consumer satisfaction while increasing its circularity and sustainability.

Appropriate Age Levels:
Grades 8-12

Boolean operation, plane, rotate, scale, snap grid, etc.
